Establishing structured internship programs under the 408 Religious Worker Visa
These internship programs allow overseas partner organisations to send ministry workers to Australia for 1–2 years and, when set up appropriately, can provide a more reliable visa pathway—particularly for applicants from higher-risk countries where student and visitor visas are often difficult to obtain.
This pathway can also assist mission organisations and churches in supporting existing members already in Australia (such as theology students or volunteers), allowing them to continue serving in the ministry.
The seminar will offer practical guidance on how to establish these internship pathways, including visa options, key considerations, and real examples of how organisations are implementing these programs.
