MEET THE SPEAKER

 Marion Knell

Marion has served on the leadership of Member Care Europe, Global Member Care, and EuroTCK. She inaugurated the MA in Member Care at Redcliffe College. Marion travels internationally speaking on aspects of Member Care and Third Culture Kids and works as a cross-cultural consultant with an international relocation company training expatriates and their families on acculturation issues.

She has written two books, “Families on the Move” and “Burn-up or Splashdown – the survival guide to re-entry” and is currently working on a handbook for churches and agencies, “Foundations for Member Care”.

Marion now consults with Refugee Highway Partnership on Care for Refugees and Refugee workers and leads trauma response for the European Evangelical Alliance. She has developed courses for churches on working with Traumatized Refugees and Sustaining Refugee Workers.

Marion is a rugby football fanatic! She’s married to Brian and they have 3 children and 8 grandchildren.

“Love your neighbour AS YOURSELF” – what did Jesus mean by this and how did he model it? An exploration of practising self-care the Jesus-way

Seminar theme:

The Cost of Caring – recognising and responding to burnout and loss in ministry’

We live in a high stress environment and nowhere more so than when in ministry. This seminar will explore the nature of stress, sources of stress in ministry, responses to stress and tools for the task. We will move on to explore Compassion Fatigue , and take an in depth look at the growing challenge of burnout, its causes, symptoms, recovery and prevention. There will also be an over-view of building resilience in key areas. The session will be interactive with group discussion, case studies and tools for diagnosis and response.
