Codes of Best Practice

In pursuing the Missions Interlink vision of seeing "Australian churches and organisations actively engaged together in effective cross-cultural mission for Christ's glory" a series of "Best Practice Codes" for different aspects of the practice of Christian mission is being developed.

These Codes are being designed to be used as a tool for helping establishing a common understanding of the Christian ethics related to specific aspects of mission, and provide a guide for achieving best practice in mission.  Unlike adherence to the MI Standards Statement, these codes are not mandatory for MI members, but those that comply with them are invited to state so, as applicable.

Short-Term Mission and Good Governance are the first two Codes to be produced and are now available.

The Short-term Mission Best Practice Code covers such areas as purpose, roles of participants, expectations, cultural appropriateness, training, administration, risk management, on-field management, debriefing, feedback and follow-through as well as the short-term mission as a whole.

The Good Governance Best Practice Code covers the following aspects of a Board: leadership, control, performance, review and renewal, delegation, integrity and openness.
